Daniela Hampel, Ph.D., FASN

Dr. Hampel is a leading expert in human milk analytics, with research focused on developing and validating state-of-the-art methods to measure micronutrients and other constituents in human milk, as well as assessing maternal and infant nutritional status. Her work applies these tools to identify nutritional deficiencies in mothers and infants in low- and middle-income countries, and to understand how maternal diet, health, and nutritional interventions influence milk composition and support healthy infant development during the critical first six months of life.

Among her most significant contributions is the Mothers, Infants and Lactation Quality (MILQ) Study, an international multi-site collaboration aimed at establishing the first robust global reference values for nutrients in human milk—research that directly informs nutrition guidelines and policies for mothers and children worldwide.

She actively collaborates with researchers and partners who share a commitment to advancing maternal and infant health through rigorous, impactful science.
