Kristy Sejane

Kristy completed her B.Sc. in Biology with an emphasis in Physiology at San Francisco State University in 2021. Following graduation, she joined Dr. Lars Bode’s laboratory at the University of California, San Diego, as a research associate, where she investigated how maternal factors influence human milk composition and infant development.

Kristy is currently pursuing an M.Sc. in Human Nutrition under the supervision of Dr. Crystal Karakochuk, investigating the effects of supplementation with two forms of iron (ferrous fumarate and ferrous bisglycinate) during pregnancy on maternal and infant outcomes, including human milk composition. Her research interests include maternal nutrition, micronutrients, human milk, and infant nutrition. Kristy received funding through the Trainee Expansion Program (TEP) of the International Society for Research in Human Milk and Lactation (ISRHML) to visit the MILQ Lab, where she is gaining specialized training in human milk micronutrient analysis to support her graduate research.
